According to the author, mathematics held great significance among Muslims and in the Quran, with strong emphasis on learning it. Although other natural sciences were also respected among Muslims, the special status of mathematics and astronomy is undeniable, particularly because of the jurists’ specific need to determine times and other jurisprudential matters. The first and second articles of this book discuss the importance of mathematics from the perspective of Sharia and wisdom, explaining some of its scientific and practical benefits, followed by definitions of some common terms in this science. The third article deals with the concept of “breaking down” in mathematical sciences and its associated benefits; the fourth article addresses the topic of “shadow”; the fifth and sixth articles explore “general angle” and “reduction of the general angle” along with other related astronomical topics. In the final article, the author discusses one of the everlasting scientific miracles of the Prophet Muhammad in determining the true noon and the direction of the Qibla in the city of Medina.
