The story of this book is set in a poor and notorious neighborhood in past years. Zinel is the villainous criminal of the area whose release marks the beginning of the story. Maliheh is a young and pretty girl living with her emotionless father in the same neighborhood; her biggest fear is facing the local thugs, and the absence of her grandmother, even after a year, still haunts her. The book features other characters who, for various reasons, spend their lives in the alleys of the neighborhood, collectively portraying the life of unfortunate people whose women bear a larger share of this fate.
