The Magic of Language

This book discusses the unconscious and potential agency of language in literary works. For example, in “The Amin Bird,” Amin is the reversed form of “Nima.” Or at the end of Forough’s poem “Meeting at Night”: “And a voice that on the cold horizon cried: Goodbye,” the horizon is the reverse of “behind.” His spirit has left and is moving away. In mythology, death stands a few steps behind the left shoulder of a person. In the couplet by Naziri or Saeb: “The hand of greed that reaches out to people is long,” the long hand evokes the image of the demon of greed in the mind. In “The King of Conquest,” “pad” acts as an opposite prefix (which in fact it does not) and becomes the opposite of a tyrant king. In addition to such content, the book also addresses the unconscious of texts, hidden memories, psychoanalytic criticism, and new literary theories.
