Ten Stories Against Forgetting

Ten Stories Against Forgetting is a collection of stories that serves as a memento of the strange and exhausting days of the coronavirus pandemic. This collection, dedicated to Iranian doctors and nurses, includes ten short stories from various authors, all written in the early days of the pandemic when the nature of the virus and the duration of its impact were unknown, and the future seemed bleak. The writers did not succumb to inactivity or despair but sought collective remedies for this new crisis through writing. Over the years of the pandemic in Iran and other countries, many lives were transformed and people were driven into isolation. This led them to seek solutions and cope with a deadly problem, one that required great solidarity and empathy, while confined in quarantine. The ten stories compiled by Kaveh Fouladis are all concerned, more or less, with this theme and were written during the COVID-19 era. Stories include “The Last Solo” by Marjan Fatemi, “The Last Bee of the Honey Hive” by Negar Ghalandar, “The Last Time” by Zahra Ahangaran, “Online” by Zahra Alipour, “The Small Moon of Earth” by Azadeh Shariati, “Hashtag Stay at Home” by Aida Alipour, “And Spring Was Close” by Fatemeh Mahdavi, “Yeganeh” by Reza Alipour, “Alice in the Land of Pollution” by Leida Ghahremanlou, and finally “Mask” by Elahe Khodabakhshi. Mohsen Goodarzi wrote the introduction, and an essay by Kaveh Fouladis is also included.
