This book is a selection of poems, writings, letters, and paintings by Sohrab Sepehri. It begins with an introduction by Hojjat Hassan Nazer. A part of Sohrab’s biography written by himself and a timeline of his life follow. Then, the best poems from his eight poetry books are selected, including works from “The Death of Color,” “The Life of Dreams,” “The Collapse of the Sun,” “The East of Sorrow,” “The Sound of Water’s Footsteps,” “Traveler,” “Green Volume,” and “We Are Nothing, We See,” along with some additional poems not included in the “Eight Books.” The book also includes a few memories from his trip to Japan, several letters, and an excerpt from Sohrab Sepehri’s “Blue Room.” Further pages contain notes and critiques about Sohrab and his works. Writings from Shafi’i Kadkani, Forough Farrokhzad, Ahmad Shamlou, Akhavan Saless, and others can be found in the section “Sohrab from Others’ Perspectives.” The book concludes with 16 color plates of Sohrab Sepehri’s paintings.
