From the perspective of preserving and maintaining historical documents and records, tribal and nomadic regions are far more vulnerable compared to urban and sedentary areas. Therefore, any effort to gather and preserve documents related to this area is a necessary and essential duty. Especially since this particular domain, namely nomadic life, has passed into history due to contemporary changes, and if anything remains as a legacy, it is these types of documents and writings. Among the collection of documents of Soltanali Soltani Behbahani (Sheikh Al-Islam), which has been entrusted to the Great Islamic Encyclopedia Foundation by his family, a significant portion of documents and reports are dedicated to describing and recording the tribal and nomadic events around Behbahan and possibly beyond. These documents somewhat fill the void left in the previously mentioned sparse and weakly documented domain. The social and political status of the Sheikh Al-Islam family of Behbahan, especially their land interests in the surrounding areas, necessitated a range of extensive connections with neighboring tribes and nomads, the written reflections of which in the aforementioned documents form the main core of this book. What is presented in this collection is a selection of these documents related to the period of Soltanali Soltani’s prominent presence and extensive activities during a significant phase of transformations in this region, specifically the two decades of the 1940s and 1950s, which coincided with various incidents and events in this area.
