Iranian Ideal

The articles collected in this book all belong to the Iranshahr magazine and a specific period of the intellectual life of Hossein Kazemzadeh Iranshahr (1883-1961) as well as the history of Iran. This period specifically marks the transition from the Qajar dynasty to the Pahlavi era. During this time, Iranshahr, like most contemporaneous intellectuals, emphasized Iran’s rapid movement towards modernization and considered certain changes and reforms necessary in this path. While intellectuals such as Mirza Malkom Khan or Mirza Agha Khan Kermani are regarded as pioneers of the Iranian awakening and intellectual founders of the Constitutional Revolution, intellectuals like Taqi Zadeh and Iranshahr can be seen as the founders of the idea of governmental reforms in Iran; much of their ideas were put on the agenda during the first Pahlavi era and were largely realized.
