Historical Grammar of the Persian Language

The book “Historical Grammar of the Persian Language” authored by Dr. Mohsen Abolghasemi is essentially the second volume of his “History of the Persian Language.” In this book, the grammar of Persian is described comparatively across the three historical stages: Old Persian, Middle Persian, and New Persian (Dari). The relationship of each stage with its predecessor is also illustrated. The scholar has presented the grammatical discussions of these three periods in twelve chapters, providing numerous examples and, through textual excerpts, revealing the archaic forms of many modern words. At the end of the book, there is a glossary of Avestan and Old Persian words, with explanations for each term referenced in the text.
