Heart Rhythms

There are many moments in life when we think we see, yet we do not; we are present, yet not truly there; we are close, yet miles away. These unseen moments often impact us more than those we actually witness. There are absences you feel alongside you every moment and distances you perceive as close through the window of your heart. Until yesterday, dear grandmother was right here beside me in this world, yet I did not see her. Today, although our apparent distance is as vast as between earth and sky, I feel her closer than ever in my heart. I see her closer than ever in my eyes. I have realized that the one who is not here, dear grandmother, is not gone; it is I who am here, yet not truly present.
