This novel addresses the events of the 1979 revolution and the conflicts and killings of political activists before and after the revolution. The names of the four sons are Iraj, Saeed, Asad, and Majid. Majid, the central character, narrates most parts of the story. Fereydoun, the father, advises his four sons to stay away from political activities. Each son holds different beliefs. Much of the story blends imagination and reality. Majid Amani, due to mental health issues, is hospitalized in a psychiatric hospital in Germany. Along with his brothers, Majid starts printing and distributing flyers and fighting against the Shah’s regime. His brother Iraj is executed because of these struggles. Fereydoun Amani, the father, could have used his influence to save his son from the death sentence, but since he had given his sons a final warning, he chose not to intervene.
