In the turbulent days at the start of the imposed war and the dispatch of military forces and volunteers to confront the Baathist army, a group of soldiers along with their commander accidentally lose their way and reach a relatively remote area in the south known for oil exploration. This group of seventeen soldiers must stay there for twenty-four hours until they are guided from the center to the frontline. In this area, known as “Bofari,” a seventeen-year-old girl is working with her father. The forced stay of the soldiers and the acquaintance of this father and daughter with the group during the early days of the war form a memory that is now revisited after more than twenty years. This happens in Cyprus (where there is an old café), and the girl in the story appears there to meet with the same soldier after many years. These events lead to the Christian soldier’s conversion to Islam. The memory of those few days and subsequent adventures are further details of this novel. The novel specifically addresses the human issues of war and the worldview of two Christian soldiers.
