Azar Borzin Nameh is an epic poem in the heroic tradition, modeled after Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh, that recounts the life of Azar Borzin, son of Zal, from his birth to the death of Bahman. This poem is composed in the mutaqaarib meter. This lesser-known heroic literary work has been edited and made available to fans of heroic literature through the efforts of Reza Ghafoori. Due to the scarcity of narratives and manuscripts about this hero and this poem, the editor’s work is highly valuable and commendable. The editor and researcher have traced this hero in heroic epics, historical texts, and Iranian folklore, examining the intellectual, linguistic, and literary characteristics of the text.
