Abul-Abbas Iranshahr: The Message from Being

Abul-Abbas Iranshahr is regarded as the first philosopher and the founder of the rationalist school after Islam. However, few of his ideas remain, and there has been limited analysis of his theories. This book attempts to collect all of his views found in the works of figures such as Nasir Khusraw and Al-Biruni and review articles written about him and his works, presenting a new analysis of his statements. The central focus of this new analysis is the role of the concept of being in his theories. Iranshahr’s intellectual system is primarily a new theory of being; in it, one can observe not only his deep understanding of Islam and Greek philosophy but also his extensive knowledge of mathematics, astronomy, and Iranian religions, especially Zoroastrianism.
