The book “Whitewashing” is a selection of daily satires by Masoud Marashi published in the newspapers “Bahaar” and “Ghanoon” from December 2012 to the day of the eleventh presidential election (June 14, 2013). The first chapter of the book, the satirical story “Time Tunnel,” offers a unique narrative inspired by the stories “Sugar Goat” and “The Genie of the Magic Lamp,” providing broader critiques as well as commentary on current issues. The second chapter is a selection of daily political satire. The book’s title, “Whitewashing,” is taken from the name of one of these daily press columns. The term, coined by the author as an opposite to the commonly used “Blackwashing,” was intended to reflect the thematic approach of the satire column. This phrase later gained popularity to the extent that several reputable national newspapers used it in their front-page headlines.
