Whirling Shadows

The shadows danced around the surrounding trees, swirling, rising and falling, increasing one by one. He wondered: how did these shadows outnumber us? This thought shook him, throwing him down from the height of his pleasant imagination to the moment and place where he was. He sat down, rubbed his eyes a little, drank from the water he had, and looked again at the dancing shadows and people. He was right; the shadows outnumbered the gypsies and continued to grow. Their movement was free and unconnected, but was that even possible?
