Under Low Light

Under Low Light is a complete collection of short stories written between 1992 and 2016, consisting of four main sections: Childhood, Life, Love, and Death. In the “Childhood” section, the author draws upon some of their childhood experiences for storytelling. The “Life” section presents the story of a university professor’s life; the “Love” section includes all the romantic stories the author has written so far, and the “Death” section contains stories revolving around the themes of death and nonexistence. Now, when I look at these forty-four short stories, I feel each one is a clear snapshot of the quality of the author’s soul on the days they were written. If cameras capture our physicality under sufficient light, I believe words are the tools for photographing the soul. In this way, this collection appears to me as a photo album containing forty-four snapshots of a soul, photographed with utmost clarity and sincerity by words over many years. For me, Childhood, Life, Love, and Death have always been luminous windows that have constantly flooded my spirit, mind, and heart with their light. I always thought that if ever I were to paint these windows, I would paint them in white, green, red, and black, respectively. But now, for many reasons, I have no doubt that even if I pick up these colors, they won’t follow a specific sequence; because each window can be of any color. It all depends on when and from which point of view you look at it.
