The Wind Takes the Women

The short story collection The Wind Takes the Women, which reached its third edition in winter 2017, includes fifteen stories mostly oscillating between fantasy and reality. It seems the author is unafraid to intertwine the improbable with reality, presenting a blend of dream and wakefulness to the reader. According to critics, the diversity of stories in Hasan Mahmoudi’s third collection is one of its most important features. The author, using techniques learned from the tradition of Eastern storytelling, blurs the line between fantasy and reality. Apart from a nod to the Eastern and One Thousand and One Nights narrative style, his concern for new experiences in storytelling means writing is, for him, achieving a novel structure.
