The Warmth of the Sun

When entering Irvin Yalom’s texts, it should be noted that he follows the phenomenological method and is an existential psychotherapist strongly influenced by Martin Heidegger’s existential phenomenology or existentialism. Perhaps the message of all Yalom’s works is: “Being together is all that humans have.” In the novel “When Nietzsche Wept,” Yalom vividly illustrates: “My mind is pregnant. Pregnant with books that have ripened within it, a burden only I can bear. Sometimes I interpret my headaches as the pain of birthing ideas.” This work offers a psychological and philosophical analysis of Dr. Yalom’s storytelling psychotherapy, and we will warmly feel the therapist’s warmth through reading his works.
