The Trial of Mirza Reza Kermani

The Trial of Mirza Reza Kermani is a collection of “plays and notes” written by “Gholam-Hossein Sa’edi,” compiled by “Hamid Tabrizi.” “Gholam-Hossein Sa’edi,” also known as “Gohar Morad,” is one of the most prominent figures in the country’s dramatic literature, who, during his career, authored numerous plays and other forms of literary works. His prolific pen left behind stories and songs, plays and screenplays, essays and articles, and a wealth of notes, all of which served as different platforms to manifest his thoughts and creativity. The present volume, titled “The Trial of Mirza Reza Kermani,” published with the effort of Parseh Book Translation and Publishing House in 240 pages, contains works that “Gholam-Hossein Sa’edi” had sent to various magazines, many of which were either obscure or based in distant cities. For this reason, most of the compiled pieces in this collection have remained unknown to his admirers and are now presented for the first time in book form for readers. The plays included in this collection are “The Trial of Mirza Reza Kermani,” which is the title piece of the collection, “The Carpet Weavers in the Trenches,” “The Snowy House,” “The Lilaj,” “The Wise Woman’s Message,” “Maimun Khatoon,” “The Messengers,” and “The Deceptive Shepherd.” Among the notes in the collection are “A Revolution in Theatre,” “The All-Round Actor,” “Indeed, It Is Night,” “Nosrat Karimi and His Masks.”
