Iranians have been civilized and cultured people since ancient times and were considered leaders in science and knowledge until recent times when Europeans took the lead in science and industry. Therefore, they have always been familiar with lessons, homework, and schooling, acquiring knowledge in ways common to their times. Education, which includes not only teaching but also nurturing based on culture, is a legacy of this ancient history and the precious wisdom and love of knowledge of Iranians. Such an approach to education is exceptional and unique even among contemporary nations. Studying education throughout our country’s ancient history is fascinating and pleasant, and amid the ups and downs of dynasties such as the Medes, Achaemenids, Parthians, Sassanids, Islam, and finally the modern era, there are many interesting bitter and sweet memories. This research, due to thematic limitations, exclusively addresses modern education and schooling specifically in the Ilam region.
