The Little Boat

Although the story of The Little Boat has a fantasy framework, it is essentially an allegorical tale because each of us can be a little boat in the universe. A little boat caught in a storm with its owner, feeling guilty after the owner’s death. To free itself from this guilt, it wishes to burn in the fires of hell, but how can it reach hell? When it steps through the gates of hell intending self-destruction, it realizes that divine will is different since God is a keen observer of our deeds and the ultimate decider. The little boat symbolizes the self; each of us can be a little boat, judging ourselves for actions both hidden and apparent, knowing God is aware of all moments in our lives. The story can purify the soul, cleanse it from evil and negativity, and deepen faith in God. Though a short and imaginative story, The Little Boat draws from life truths relatable to everyone, making it memorable. Life is like an endless sea, sometimes calm, sometimes turbulent, and we move within it as little boats, watched over by God’s gaze from beyond the skies.
