She Who Was Within Me

Mahtab is on the threshold of turning forty, and this fact traps her in comparing her daily life with others. In this challenge, she imagines herself in the place of some women around her and lives a few of their days. Simultaneously, several independent stories related to women’s concerns proceed alongside the main storyline. The narrator, however, is omniscient and occasionally steps outside conventional boundaries, engaging with the reader in moments of suspense, even critiquing the author and the characters.
