Shadows is a psychological story. Shadow is a psychologist working in a mental asylum. Yas is one of the patients who has a close relationship with Shadow. Shadow must leave the city for three weeks to attend a conference on schizophrenic patients. Upon his return, he is given Yas’s diary, who has committed suicide in his absence. The entire story is a depiction of psychotic characters who have fallen from the land of the sun to the dark and shadowy land, the land of night and shadows. Longing for “warmth,” “a piece of light,” and love, they create these phenomena in their imagination. The reader no longer knows whether what happened occurred in a dream or in reality! The boundary between dream and wakefulness becomes blurred, as does the boundary between reality and imagination.
