Rainbow of Fate

After the martyrdom of “Mehdi,” which happened suddenly, and several years after the war, I returned from Sweden to Iran to attend the funeral ceremony. Mehdi’s body was destroyed by leftover mines from the war during demining. Exactly one year after separating from my wife Fariba, I discussed the issue of marrying “Samin,” Mehdi’s wife, with my mother. It had been just one month since my mother happily told me about Samin’s approval. Samin, at twenty-four years old, was too young to spend the rest of her life alone. On the other hand, it was better for Samin’s two children to be raised under their uncle’s care. Deep in my heart, I knew I was doing this only to satisfy myself. I had loved Samin before, but she had chosen my twin brother. Now, I had her for myself again, but I was mistaken. On our wedding night, she proposed that she would raise her children and even my daughter, on the condition that we lived under the same roof and did not interfere in each other’s affairs. She even allowed me to secretly marry another woman, and I had to respond to her by the next morning.
