Prince of Sorrow

This play, based on a text by Shakespeare, has been adapted in a completely modern and up-to-date manner. Like other works by Mohammad Charmshir, it bypasses conventional rules. This distinguished playwright approaches adaptation with a fresh and unique perspective. He not only breaks down and analyzes lengthy texts but also, while preserving the core story, changes the settings and transforms them in a way that turns the work into a short and contemporary piece. In one part of the book, we read: “Man: It’s a weekend day. You have arranged with some of your friends to go somewhere outside the city. You want to fish if possible. If not, set up a tent somewhere and just enjoy the whole day. You are all tired from a bunch of hard and useless exams that have just finished. You are going to not think about anything. Throw everything away and get ready for another terrible semester of studying.”
