Popular Ethics and the Scientific Spirit

Based on the fundamental findings of this book, the Shuubi movement, the formation of independent Iranian governments, and the cultural and political factors contributed to the growth of the scientific spirit in Iran during the 9th to 11th centuries AH. Can the activities of scholars during this period be considered science in the modern sense, or were these activities carried out within a non-scientific framework? Were these activities original and innovative or merely repetitions of previous achievements? Should the growth of science in this era be attributed to Iran or to Islam? And most importantly, was the growth of science during this period accidental and coincidental or not? The author, adopting a historical sociological approach, strives to thoroughly investigate these issues and questions.
