The aim of this book is to familiarize Persian-speaking readers, especially students and researchers in the humanities and social sciences as the primary audience, and the general public as the secondary audience, with the developments in the Middle East, one of the most turbulent regions in today’s world. Although Persian-language media, including print, visual, and audio, frequently discuss the Middle East, they mostly focus on current political events and their analysis. However, a more accurate and realistic analysis and explanation of the issues in the Middle East and North Africa require broader knowledge of the historical, intellectual, and sociological aspects of the region. The author, who has more than four decades of experience in writing, researching, and teaching about the Middle East and North Africa in the country’s media and universities, has attempted to fill the gap in the existing literature, both books and articles, related to these regions by providing a relatively comprehensive work for interested readers.
