Anvar Khamei was a member of the group of 53 individuals and one of the founders of the Tudeh Party of Iran. He belonged to the first generation of the Iranian left who, in May 1937, was imprisoned along with Dr. “Taghi Arani,” the leader, and other members of the group of 53. He joined the party in 1943 and left it in 1947 due to protests alongside “Khalil Maleki,” “Jalal Al-e Ahmad,” and “Fereydoun Tavallali.” With the formation of the nationalization movement of oil, he published the newspapers Jahan-e Ma and Hejar.
