Please Don’t Be a Sheep

In the introduction of this book, it is stated: “This book is merely a collection of quotes from Zoroaster to the Prophet, from Socrates to André Gide, from Shariati to Anthony Robbins, compiled by Thamen Publishing under the supervision of Mahmoud Nameni. It seeks to discuss the entirety of life, from birth to death.” This book falls under the field of general psychology, and the author, through narrating stories, anecdotes, and quotes accompanied by their analysis, has attempted to simplify the path of self-discovery, which is not an easy journey, for those who wish to embark on it. As mentioned, numerous Iranian and international sources have been utilized to write this work, and this comprehensiveness makes the book save readers from needing to delve into some similar works on the subject. The book consists of four chapters, each of which is described below. The first chapter, titled “How to Learn,” includes sections and topics such as “The Half-Lost Mother,” “What is Self-Awareness?” “What is Life?” “What is Emotion Management?” “How to Choose Friends,” “Smile Therapy, Grief Therapy,” and so on. At the end of each section, a summary of the discussion is also provided, which is essentially an analysis of what is presented in the form of quotes and anecdotes. The second chapter contains affirmations that, according to the author, have been selected with precision and great care from over a hundred psychology books. The third chapter, titled “Unanswered Questions,” includes questions about which the author explains: “These questions have been chosen for the purpose of self-awareness and analysis, as well as unraveling the complexities of the soul, psyche, and the labyrinth of your thoughts and traits.” The fourth chapter consists of self-awareness tests, whose analysis of the responses can be found at the end of each section. It’s worth noting that the author has also published other works in the field of general psychology under titles such as “Please Be Good Parents,” “Please Be a Good Spouse,” “Please Trust in Success,” “Please Don’t Become an Addict,” “Please Be Human,” and “Please Be a Successful Manager.”
