On the Wings of Crisis

The book *On the Wings of Crisis* depicts aspects of the life and political career of Ali Amini from the perspective of his son, Iraj Amini. In order to provide a fair portrayal, Iraj Amini has reviewed his father’s political life and, for the composition of this biography, has utilized Dr. Amini’s personal notes as well as primary domestic and international documents. Ali Amini, a modernized Qajar nobleman, dreamed of becoming prime minister from a young age. He began his political career as an assistant to Ghavam al-Saltaneh, and after serving in Dr. Mossadegh’s first cabinet, and the cabinets of General Zahedi and Hossein Ala, he attained the position of prime minister during the critical years of 1961-1962. Amini is undoubtedly one of the most important and influential political figures in Iran during the Pahlavi era. The book consists of 26 chapters, covering Dr. Amini’s life from childhood and adolescence to his final days.
