The book, *”My Beloved Melancholia”*, is a collection of seven stories connected through an underlying thread and the central theme of “forgetting.” This story collection is about Iranian women who are forced, due to the emotional upbringing they have carried since childhood, to detach themselves from emotional relationships and romantic narratives. The author has stated that one of the main reasons for writing this work is her daughter and has mentioned that this book is for her daughter and Iranian girls, as she hopes to see, in the next generation, women who are emotionally and socially stronger than the women of today, capable of navigating emotional challenges alongside men. According to the author, this work can prove beneficial from a psychological or even social pathology perspective because women need to realize that, in order to thrive in today’s world, they must be stronger than before. For this reason, she has attempted to portray women in this work as different from what we see today.
