Mirror Against the Sun

Mirror Against the Sun is an account of the meetings and understanding of the life of Professor Dr. Ahmad Mahdavi Damghani, compiled by Seyed Mohsen Alavizadeh and Seyed Hossein Hosseini Nourzad. The present work contains detailed conversations with Dr. Ahmad Mahdavi Damghani conducted over the course of one year, from December 2013 to 2014.
This distinguished figure of knowledge and piety came from a family with a long-standing scientific and spiritual heritage, serving generation after generation in the fields of religion and theology. From early childhood, Ahmad Mahdavi Damghani was sent to a traditional school to learn the Holy Quran, alongside valuable religious texts. He completed his primary and secondary education and, following his father’s advice, pursued Islamic seminary studies. During this period, he studied alongside future prominent scholars of religion and wisdom. After completing the seminary level at the Mashhad seminary, he moved to Tehran.
Dr. Mahdavi Damghani’s arrival in Tehran marked a turning point in his life. In addition to continuing his studies and teaching at the University of Tehran, he met his wife, with whom he had three children.
“Mirror Against the Sun,” based on conversations by Seyed Mohsen Alavizadeh and Seyed Hossein Hosseini Nourzad with this great scholar of literature and theology, sheds light on the life of this prominent Iranian figure, familiarizing his admirers with his story.
