Life and Poems of Pejman Bakhtiari

Category:

The late Master Pejman Bakhtiari (1279–1353) was a distinguished contemporary scholar, translator, and poet who shone in the fields of Iranian science and culture, leaving his mark on the golden pages of modern poetry and literature. Pejman authored numerous works in various literary, historical, and translation fields, many of which remain unpublished. Therefore, his reputation extends beyond poetry to writing, research, historiography, and translation. His position is considered among the greats of contemporary Iranian poetry and literature. Although his illustrious record is well-known among experts, for various reasons, his name and contributions have not been adequately recognized, even in his native land of Bakhtiari. Furthermore, many sources about his life contain significant errors and omissions. Thus, there was a need for a more systematic and precise study of his life and works. In compiling his biography, besides consulting numerous sources and examining the poet’s works, local knowledge from his relatives was used. Poems were selected from collections such as Khashak (Amirkabir, 1335), Desert of Thought (Ibn Sina, 1349), Diwan of Pejman Bakhtiari (Parsa, 1368), reputable literary magazines (1305–1353), and other specialized sources, all published in the book “Life and Poems of Pejman Bakhtiari.”
