Kindness and Mirrors

The play “Kindness and Mirrors” begins when two throwing objects are thrown onto the stage. Qais’s lamentation, asleep yet running, enters a scene featuring a well at the back and a row of palm trees painted on the opposite wall. As the play progresses, it becomes apparent that the text, aside from struggling to find a stereotypical spoken language and tone, is neither suitable for reading nor performing. The text is based on narratives about Amir al-Mu’minin Ali (peace be upon him).
