Iranian Coups

The book “Iranian Coups” is a study by “Sohrab Yazdani” in which he examines four important coups in contemporary history and attempts to analyze the similarities and differences of these coups alongside the performance of political forces involved in each of these events. In “Iranian Coups,” he focuses his attention on the coup forces, who are not remembered favorably due to their illegal intervention in politics and use of force. Some of the actions that took place during the Iranian coups included concealment, hiding the truth, lying, bribery, espionage, and murder. As a result, the Iranian coup perpetrators refrained from disclosing facts about their involvement, making it more difficult for researchers to uncover the truths of the “Iranian Coups.” Foreign intervention has always played a significant role in the “Iranian Coups.” Thousands of pages of documents and evidence have been revealed depicting the involvement of Britain and the United States in the coups. However, as stated in the book’s introduction, “Sohrab Yazdani” does not consider the documents recorded by the West regarding the “Iranian Coups” to be reliable and feels that there are still many secret matters regarding British and American involvement in the Iranian coups. “Sohrab Yazdani’s” research in this book is not limited to the coups of 21 February and 19 August; instead, it also encompasses two coups during the Constitutional era. He has attempted to construct a unified theoretical framework for evaluating the characteristics of the “Iranian Coups” and uses it to demonstrate that the “Iranian Coups” are the result of a massive political conflict among political actors in Iran, with foreign elements also playing a role.
