International System and Geopolitics of Disputes in the Persian Gulf Countries

The Persian Gulf region holds special geopolitical and geoeconomic significance in international relations, yet it remains the most divergent region in the world. This situation has two theoretical roots that can be presented as a general view: first, these countries have not yet become nation-states; and second, this region has been highly susceptible to foreign influence, where in the foreign relations of many of these countries, foreign influence takes precedence over the development of the national economy. These factors have perpetuated territorial and border disputes, tensions, and conflict in this region.
