In the Midst of the Road

Mohammad Rahmanian is a playwright, screenwriter, director, and theater instructor, creator of works such as “Interview,” “Fanz,” “Nahr-e Firouzabad,” “A Dress for the Party,” “Rooster,” “The Martyrdom Reading of Ghadamshad Motreb in Tehran,” and more, many of which he has directed himself on stage. This short play, with a pleasant rhythm and well-structured form, portrays a slice of the life of an “Ashiq” (a traditional Azerbaijani musician and singer) at a critical moment of decision in the bitter era of respect and prohibition.
