I Have Been Dead for Years

The name “I Have Been Dead for Years” is found on the fifth notebook of the “Left Eye of the Dog” collection, written by Hossein Panahi. He was a bewildered villager who, in dealing with issues, experienced exaggerated swings of highs and lows and whose existence was entangled with inevitable and unintended contradictions. Hossein Panahi Dezkooh was an Iranian poet, writer, director, and actor. He was also a member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. After this experience, he engaged in acting in cinema and television. He was also active as a writer and poet. Hossein Panahi was known for his noble morals and kindness, and this quality was clearly evident in most of his writings. Due to his childlike and vulnerable appearance, unique way of speaking, simplicity and purity of behavior, and dark humor, he was recognized as an actor known for special roles. Moreover, he was one of 25 actors who had been nominated more than once for the Crystal Simorgh Award for Best Supporting Actor. Hossein Panahi passed away on August 4, 2004, at the age of 48, and according to the forensic report, the cause was a heart attack. In accordance with his will, he was buried in the cemetery of Souq city, located in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province, as his mother was also buried in the same place.
