He was the recipient of the first edition of the Fajr International Poetry Festival in the National and Patriotic section. His poems have a social theme and often depict the events of people’s lives; they also possess a heroic tone combined with the strength and gravity of the Khorasan style of poetry, along with innovative and fresh compositions. Akhavan-Sales was skilled in classical Persian poetry and later turned to modern poetry. Several works in both styles remain from him. Additionally, he was familiar with playing the tar and musical tones.
