Hola… Hola is a collection of 9 short stories written by Natasha Amiri. She narrates the story from the perspective of a donkey: “My mother’s name was Delilah. Timur Khan often brought his guests to watch my mother. But they looked at me and pointed their fingers; they were behind white fences, and I approached them. I moved one ear back and the other forward. They covered their hands in front of my muzzle. They smelled, the scent of their sweat mixed with cow dung. Suddenly, I galloped away. My mother stomped the ground to keep me away from the people. But I bucked and approached them again.” The stories in this collection are titled: “Mascot”, “Vishtasp the Intellectual”, “Grandmother Said: Was it Worth It?”, “After a Hundred Years a Man”, “Hola… Hola”, “The Mole”, “And You Are No Longer Among Us”, “The Last Seven Words of Ardeshir”, and “Hyssop”. Previously, Natasha Amiri has published the books “Come to Hell with Me” and “Love on the Second Chakra”, with “Love on the Second Chakra” having won the Isfahan Literary Award in 2008.
