Fundamentals of Theatre Criticism is the first original effort in the field of criticism, specifically concerning theatre. Previous attempts existed, but mostly as analytical perspectives or translations. This book is prepared in six chapters and, besides addressing the basics and history of theatre criticism, discusses different approaches and methods, as well as pragmatic criticism and the necessities for a critic. Perhaps the most important section is how to critique a performance and its elements, including directing, acting, stage design, costume design, technical-performative aspects, and more. Although the book mainly focuses on stage performances, it can also be useful for television, puppet shows, radio dramas, and other forms of performance.
