From Pre-Modernism to Post-Modernism

The articles and interviews in this book are divided into two categories based on their subjects; the first category begins with a discussion of space and time in myth, art, and science, followed by an examination of Cassirer’s philosophy and the form of mythical thought, leading to Enlightenment and Kant’s essay on Enlightenment. Finally, the thoughts of Hegel, Marx, Georges Sorel, Carl Schmitt, and Heidegger are reviewed and critiqued. The second category of articles and interviews starts with French thinkers’ views on the evolution of human consciousness, followed by a critique and analysis of Lucien Lévy-Bruhl’s theories. It also includes a translation of an important essay by Emmanuel Levinas titled “Lucien Lévy-Bruhl and Contemporary Philosophy.” The title designated for this second group of articles is “Ways of Thinking,” which will be published in another book.
