From Democracy to Religious Democracy

The main subject of this book is the critique and examination of the political thought of the late Dr. Ali Shariati. Based on his beliefs, which are naturally derived from Islamic and Shiite principles, what type of government would emerge? Can Shariati’s thought lead to the “angel of democracy” or not? The book’s answer is no. Whatever the late Shariati’s political thought may be, it does not give rise to democracy. Since democracy is, after all, a philosophical-political concept, the book contains an extensive introduction that examines the characteristics of governance based on democracy.
