Dialogue with Farhad Khosrokhavar

This book is dedicated to exploring the ideas and works of “Farhad Khosrokhavar,” a sociologist and thinker on contemporary social issues in Iran and the world. He is an expert on the sociology of the Iranian Revolution at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris. Dr. Khosrokhavar’s perspective, like his approach and emphasis, is creative and innovative. In his works, he strives to identify untraveled and unexplored paths. Behind his perspective lies the pain and suffering of being Iranian and the desire to alleviate the pain and suffering of Iranians. The present book is the text of Mohsen Motaghi’s conversation with Dr. Khosrokhavar. Among the discussions in this conversation, one can mention the features of the Iranian Revolution, the role of social actors and studying their mindset, new social movements, the phenomenon of religious intellectualism, as well as the theories of figures such as Dr. Soroush, the issue of the hijab in French society, and research methodology. Another part of the book examines Dr. Khosrokhavar’s published works. Among these books, “Iran: How to Exit the Religious Revolution” stands out, in which the author seeks to demonstrate the emergence of new social movements in post-revolutionary Iran and highlight the role of religious intellectuals in questioning many of the values of political Islam.
