Death’s Messenger

This book is a Persian story about the Mongol invasion of Iran during the Khwarazmian dynasty. In the story, we read: “After Sultan Jalal al-Din left his father’s service, he pondered how to achieve his goal. On one hand, a beautiful and clever beloved, whose fame had spread throughout Iran, called him to her side; on the other hand, his father’s desire was for him to stay in the capital. After much thought, he realized he could not ignore ‘Gohar Malek,’ so he went straight home and decided to deceive his father’s spies and the spies of ‘Turkan Khatun’ by disguising himself and leaving the city.”
