Corner of Paradise

Category:

The Corner of Heaven is a family and social novel by “Takine Hamzehlou,” which aims to touch upon fresh and new subjects while offering readers a new perspective. In “The Corner of Heaven,” we encounter the story of an Iranian family who, after successful investments, managed to reside in a foreign country. However, the son of the family, unlike the rest, does not want to live in exile. Tired and unmotivated by life in France, he eventually longs to return to where his heart truly belongs—a home, the only property his father owns in Iran, where he wishes to live with his grandmother. On the other side of “The Corner of Heaven,” penned by “Takine Hamzehlou,” we follow the story of a girl who is also a returnee to her homeland after five years of absence. She has come back to Iran to sell her father’s house but finds herself facing strange circumstances—her grandmother has gone missing. As new thoughts ignite her plans for the house, she simultaneously has to search for her grandmother. The story of the book “The Corner of Heaven” by “Takine Hamzehlou” is narrated by two first-person narrators, and it initially seems that these two stories have little connection. Especially at the beginning of the work, there is an entry of numerous characters into the novel, and the description of time and place by the author does not initially offer clarifying information to the reader. However, as the story progresses, the reader gradually learns everything and uncovers the complete picture of the story “The Corner of Heaven” and the connections between the characters.
