Collective Subtraction

The analysis and examination of the works of great poets can provide new experiences for the audience, especially young poets. Attaining the new horizons that each poet has discovered in their works is akin to years of practicing writing and reading, and for those who are at the beginning of their poetic journey, these experiences will undoubtedly be impactful. The book *”Tafreeq-e-Jam’i”* is among the works in which its author explores 13 contemporary poets of Persian poetry and attempts to analyze and examine their works, thereby lighting a pathway for the younger generation of poets. This 360-page book, authored by Dariush Memar, has been published by Negah Publications. It begins with the name of Nima Youshij, the great modern poet of today’s Iran and the pioneer of modern Persian poetry, and continues with 12 other poets, some of whom are still alive today. The author himself has written about his work as follows: First, I have tried to make my writings about the poets as concise as possible, summarizing the most important points to mention regarding their works, states, and opinions. (The examination of the works of some poets of modern poetry, due to their inherent authorship in the characteristics of their works, could not be separated from an analysis of their states and views.) Second, the brevity of the analyses is intended to provide the opportunity for all poetry enthusiasts from any walk of life to become acquainted with prominent modernist poets within a short period of time (a necessity of our era). Third, I refrained from mentioning any source in the book unless through direct quotations within the articles, to preserve an oral quality that emphasizes the subjective thought and personal experience of this analysis. I also believe that this approach is more effective for a book of this type, written for the general audience interested in modern Persian poetry.
