Matina, who has recently lost her father and whose mother is struggling with depression, moves to her uncle’s house despite her reluctance after being accepted into the architecture program in Tehran. Her mother, to avoid loneliness, moves to Germany to be with her eldest daughter. The reason for Matina’s unwillingness is the proposed arranged marriage to her cousin Farhad, recently suggested by her uncle. Neither Matina nor Farhad are interested in this marriage. Farhad, who has been accepted as a professor at the university where Matina will study, is very concerned about the complications of this matrimonial matter in the academic environment and among students, which causes great distress and frustration for Matina.
