Two Khorasani shepherds, one a scribe and the other a bookbinder, find their adopted children in the ruins of Shush Daniel after meeting their master, Imam Musa al-Kadhim (AS), following a massacre perpetrated by the Abbasids to plunder the Persians. The two shepherds, from the children’s infancy, refer to them as siblings in a written testament. Now, years later, after the deaths of the scribe and the bookbinder, Layla and Hatif wish to get married but ask themselves a simple question: Who are we? And why is the son of their fathers’ master the heir to the new Abbasid regime? Layla and Hatif travel to Medina to find the answers to their questions and begin their life together while uncovering the truth about the eighth Imam of the Shia.
