Baseless and Pointless

The book “Bi-Khod va Bi-Jahat” (“Without Reason and Rhyme”) is the debut novel by Shahla Haeri, an author, translator, and university professor, published in 2013 by Qatreh Publishing. In this unexpected dialogue, the inner world of the characters gradually unfolds, with themes such as belonging, alienation, feminine identity, and the memory of exile becoming the central axes of the narrative. In this novel, Shahla Haeri, with a simple yet thought-provoking and unadorned language, delves into the psychological lives of the characters. The choice of perspective, the subtle pace of the narrative, and the focus on everyday details draw the reader into an inner conversation with the characters.
